| As of this last Thursday I moved over to my new Wordpress blog. I have had it for a couple weeks but have been working to get the majority of the fields filled in...my best friend Amber (thank you Amber!!!) helped a great deal so now my blogging world will be over at Wordpress. My new address is www.lifeabundant.wordpress.com | | |
| As I sit and write this post I am no longer surrounded by clutter that consists of piles of paper, dead batteries, Cd's without cases, old bills and receipts (yes, I know they should all be filed), random things that I want to keep but don't necessarily want to file, etc. I spent much of my day cleaning off and organizing what I endearingly call my "desk of bane". It is that one area that I can never seem to keep free of clutter (not that there aren't others thoroughout the house it is just that this one is more often then not a cluttered mess- ARGH) It may not appear so from the picture but there was a lot of "stuff" to deal with and so my "desk of bane" project ended up consuming much of my day. I didn't just pile everything up and relocate it ( I often just move the piles around the house ) I actually dealt with it. So here are the before and after pictures... and look there's even room for a little bouquet of dalias! We'll see how long it stays this way...maybe I'll have a new record! Before

| This morning while my sister and I were talking on the phone she let me know some information that needs immediate prayer attention. A friend of her close friend is scheduled to have an abortion this coming Saturday. We need to ask God for His intervention in this situation and that the life of this precious little baby will be spared. Please be in prayer and if you would like more information you can go to Lauren's blog at http://inthearena.wordpress.com | | |
| Happy October!!! I don't know what it is about the first day of October but to me it makes Fall feel "official." Of course it did help that today was the quintessential (used your favorite word, Lauren) Fall day - the morning started off cool and moist with fog hanging gently on the surrounding mountains then as the day progressed puffy white clouds scattered the blue sky and the sun came out making the changing leaves on the trees glow ( see the quintessential Fall day). It's funny to me how even the ugly dryness of summer seems to transform in the Fall to beautiful shades of gold and brown that give great compliment to the leaves as they turn yellow, orange and occasionally red. I LOVE Fall ( can you tell ?) I am sure a large part of it is due to the fact that I have agriculture in my blood and the Fall season represents so much...the end of a long season of working and cultivating the land, bringing forth fruitfulness ( in our case garlic) from the earth, bringing in the harvest, tilling the ground under and making preparations for next years crop. Having done our half acre of garlic with Ryan' s brother and his family this year has made this Fall all the more special. We are coming to the end of our cleaning phase of the garlic and preparing to plant next years crop. It is funny how sentimental I got when we were harvesting this year - As I watched the garlic being pulled from the field I had such a sense of thankfulness to God for blessing our crop and our efforts ( as my Dad says every year is a risk for the farmer) and to our garlic that it had grown so well and had fulfilled its destiny. So for me Fall isn't just about colorful leaves, caramel apples and crisp cool breezes although I do love those aspects of Fall it represents one season ending and another new and exciting one beginning. I have a feeling that this will be one of several posts that I will write about Fall ( isn't this orange background cool ?)...until the next one here are a couple pictures of the colors just beginning to appear around us:

| Lately Zoe has wanted to make her own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. With some supervision she has been able to do it. She goes around the kitchen collecting the peanut butter, jelly, bread and butter knife and then drags a chair from the diningroom over to one of the kitchen counters. There is something very surreal about my little munchkin making her own sandwich - I mean I grew up on PB andJ and now she's making her own. She turned two and a half yesterday - she is growing up so fast (sentimental sigh...). Doesn't she look grown up in these shots? Here are a few pictures of our PB and J making munchkin :
